Wednesday Word

Today, September 8, was proclaimed International Literacy Day by UNESCO on November 17, 1965. It was first celebrated in 1966. Its aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. Imagine, only 60% of Africa's Sub-Sahara population can read or write, compared to Europe where it is 99,1%. In Burkina Faso only 12% of the adult population can write a letter and in Mali only 19% of the adults can read a book. That as such can explain main parts in the backwarded position of the African continent in the world. In our information and media dominated society we face a simple rule: "knowledge is power". Once you are excluded from basic sources of information, you are basically excluded from the dominating society. In other words: literacy is a basic human right and should be promoted. Education should be equally leveld  all over the world.
To elaborate on this fact a bit more, the power of knowledge does not only come with literacy but also with the variety of news sources we'll be provided in. A diversity in sources and opinions will create a more open society and emancipate the free thinking society. We need to know opinions from left and right, rich and poor, government and street to realy understand our position and contribute in person to an outweighed opinion. The well educated man/ woman will be capable of changing the system for a better world.
AngelTrust is supporting literacy to the fullest and calls out for reading 1 newspaper and 1 chapter of your favorite book today. Word!
80 Million Shilling missing for relatives PDF Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Remember that Harambee held on February 10th last year? Yeah, that one, where all Kenyan hypocrites (aka leaders) joined in an assembled mourning over the victims of the Nakumatt and Molo tragedies. They were all there and raised a tremendous amount of 80 million shilling, where 200 million was expected (and promised).
We have seen them crying their crocodile tears, we have observed them blaming each other of bad leadership. We have admired the church representatives taking up moral leadership and urging the Kenya leadership to start managing severe problems in society, after that they kept awfully quiet. And then we were even more astonished after the Kenya leaders presented the board of a Trust to distribute the money. Big bellies were appointed as chairman, secretary, treasurer and all other BS positions, of course operating from a golden palace in Westlands, because this operation was to be ran professionally...
Nothing has been seen from that money after. We have spotted the Trust's director in extravaganza parties, the secretary in Monaco lavishing on a Millions worth yacht, etc etc. We have seen all money being eaten..
Leadership is not something you proclaim, leadership is something you deserve! How could you eat the money from all those mourning each and every day and struggling to pick up life again. Asante sana Kenya leadership.

Civil Rights Leader Dorothy Height Dies PDF Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Dorothy Height, who as long-time president of the National Council of Negro Women was the leading female voice of the 1960s civil rights movement, died Tuesday. She was 98. This is a tribute to the so called 'Mother of the civil rights movement' as Rosa parker was nicknamed by President Obama.
As a teenager, Height marched in New York's Times Square shouting, ''Stop the lynching.'' In the 1950s and 1960s, she was the leading woman helping the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and other activists orchestrate the civil rights movement.
Dorothy Height has been the undisputable activist for human rights and will for decades more be serving as a role model for all those caring about a decent living for all human beings, whether poor, rich, white or black. And that is why AngelTrust wants you to know this remarkable woman. By reading this article, by seeing this video, but most of all by bearing in mind, especially on Wednesdays that the privilege of a decent living primarily lies within our own capacity. Word up!
